Gabriel Franchère papers, 1828-1861.

Copies of papers of Gabriel Franchère, fur trader, merchant, author, and member of the North West Company, who helped establish the American Fur Company post at Fort Astoria, Oregon. The collection consists of a group of photocopies of letters and documents from various libraries relating to Franchère's career, including papers from the P. Chouteau Maffitt Collection, Ewing Collection, American Fur Company records, and the Barbeau papers.
